news > 28/06/2017 - A humbling response

Volunteers 1

The last month has seen us rally as communities united together after one tragedy after another.

It's been over a week since we switched on our tellies to the most harrowing of scenes. There are some things that can't be unseen, and babies being thrown out of windows to save their lives is one of them.

We sat glued to our radios and televisions as flames destroyed a 24 story building in less time than it will take you to read this blog.

Giving World responded.

Thanks to our generous long-standing business donors, our warehouse was stocked sufficiently, allowing us to immediately respond to the emergency.

Our volunteers packed 600 individual toiletry bags to be sent down to the people who had lost everything.

Products donated by Unilever, MDA, Admiral Cleaning Supplies and Paris Presents UK Ltd. Our volunteers worked really hard and diligently to ensure the bereft could maintain some dignity by staying clean.

We had supplies of packaged food and brand new clothing too. A big shout out to Armstrong Logistics, JL Sports, CR Kudhail & Co, Euro-rose knitwear, Delta Galil, Drew Brady and Braggard Clothing for brand new apparel.

Giving Word, along with many other people, came together to help the families of W12. The response from everyone has been nothing short of humbling. Thousands of people have donated, volunteered, given shelter, and a shoulder to cry on to this devastated community.

Giving World will continue to play a role over the coming months supporting community teams preparing to help hundreds of families rebuild their homes by providing household items.
